Publication Design
This is an article based on a book I created entitled Black Ties & White Lies. It discusses the risk in society granting teflon lives to the rich and famous. I then featured this book in a major magazine, mimicking its style. The intro spread uses a powerful visual statement, showing the unknown celebrity with red hands, which he conceals with white gloves. The ad shown in the contents page is taken from a previous project entitled “Doggybag Bakery”.
The Coldplay spread was the winner of the Society of Publication Design’s National competition. The subtitle, “The lead singer hasn’t had sex in two years. Is that why this band is exploding?” was provided. The title was the band we chose to apply it to. Subtle word-play to express this, crossing out the ‘c’ in Coldplay and replacing it with a ‘n’, creating “no play”.
